Cubs Summer Camp 2010

Just one day to go guy's!!

Remember your packed lunches for tommorow's trip.

Uniform to be worn as we leave HQ.

The Group is pleased to announce that this years camp is to be held at Downe Scout Camp site, this is one of the Associations centre of excellence, so if you want to go book early! 

The dates for the camp are Friday 13th August 2010 till Monday 16th August 2010.

Please start to arrive at HQ from 9.30am onwards, we intent to leave at 10am.

We aim to be back at HQ on Monday 16th August at 4pm

The camp will be under canvas.

 

Home Contact

Bob has very kindly agreed to be our home contact for the camp. Should the need arise for you to contact us please telephone Bob on 01634 373971 who will subsequently contact us at the camp.

The home contact is for emergency use only, but will be open throughout the camp weekend.

 

Kit List

Please ensure that all items are clearly labelled with the cubs name on them.

This is a guide only:

Cub uniform- to be worn when arriving at HQ on Friday 13th August

rucksack/holdall                                     towel

sleeping bag and pillow                          comb/brush

waterproof(just in case)                        plastic bag for wet clothing

suncream/sun hat or cap                       boots/sturdy walking shoes                 

pyjamas                                                   t towel/plate/bowl/knife/fork/spoon

fleece/jumper                                         card game/book/magazine

handkerchief/tissues                             swimming trunks

wash kit and toothpaste                       sensible water gun!!

pencil/pen                                              packed lunch for our visit to the caves 

socks and underwear                             and the "all important cake" please

tracksuit bottoms/shorts

trainers 

 

Please note: 

A number of thin layers will keep you warmer than one thick one.

Torch should be packed seperate from the batteries

Boots give better ankle support compared with shoes for walking 

 

 

Activities

On leaving HQ on the Friday morning we will first visit Chislehurst Caves, then go on for a visit to Biggin Hill Airport Fire Station before arriving at the camp site around 4pm. Please ensure you have a packed lunch for the cave visit, preferably in a disposable bag.

During our camp stay we are hoping to take part in the following

  • Go kart racing

  • Cub its a knockout

  • Balloon jousting

  • Stuffed wellie boot throwing!!

  • Fantasy Football tourament

 

 

Notes

Mobile phones- we discourage the bringing of these as they tend to encourage homesickness amongest the cubs and we will not take responsibility for any losses

Pocket Money - it is best that all cubs have a similar amount to spend at the campsite shop, we suggest that they should bring no more than £5

No - pocket knives or electronic games are to be brought on the camp, there will be enough going on to entertain them! 

Medication - to be handed in to a leader once you arrive at HQ on the Friday please  

 

Menu  

Friday evening meal - pasta bolognaise / vegetarian pasta bolognaise

                                       strawberry or chocolate instant whip or fruit salad

                                       Hot chocolate before lights out

 

Saturday breakfast - Cereal, pan- au- chocolate, orange or apple juice

 

Saturday lunch - French stick with choice of fillings, crisps, fruit, chocolate    

                              biscuit.

Saturday afternoon break - cake

 

Saturday dinner - Paella style rice dish without fish and vegetarian option

                                instant whip or fruit salad

                                hot chocolate before lights out

 

Sunday Breakfast - sausages, egg, bacon, beans, bread and butter

                                   orange or apple juice

 

Sunday lunch - as saturday

Sunday afternoon break- cake

 

Sunday dinner - Burgers and hot dogs, pasta salad, rice salad.

                             The cubs will be cooking their own desserts with a choice of

                             either baked apples, baked bananas or pineapple doughnuts

                             hot chocolate before lights out.

 

Monday breakfast - as Sundays

 

Monday lunch - we will be preparing lunch for them the same as sundays but to 

                           take to knowle park with cake.
